Long known as a world powerhouse influencing art, culture, politics and economics around the globe, new york City rightly deserves its reputation as a truly global city. The most populous city in the United States and one of the world’s most visited, its numerous influences and countless attractions continue to draw people from all over the world either for pleasure, business or to start a new life. It is easy to see why such a magnificent city is a very popular destination for taking a TEFL/tesol course.
The first European settlement in the area dates back four hundred years but it was the social upheaval in Europe during the 19th century that really drove New York’s population boom. Large numbers of immigrants flooded into the city as they escaped famine in ireland and unrest on mainland Europe. The city has continued to grow ever since and is now one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world with over 800 different languages spoken by its residents, one third of whom were born overseas. With such a diverse population and a wide variety of cultures and traditions, it is no wonder that New York has influence and appeal on a global scale.
As you would expect of any thriving metropolis there is a seemingly never ending list of things to see and do in New York City. Must-sees for the first time visitor include the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and an elevator ride up the Empire State Building to take in the magnificent skyline. Theater lovers are spoilt for choice with many shows running on and off Broadway and of course there is a vibrant live music scene with numerous venues catering for all tastes around the city. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle then head to the world famous Central Park where a large number of events take place throughout the year such as performances of Shakespeare’s plays and live music concerts. The park also houses a zoo, a castle and an ice-rink in the winter, as well as many other free and fascinating attractions.
Whatever you are looking for, whether it is quality food, great shopping or fantastic live music, our TEFL/TESOL course in this exciting international city is right for you. Anyone looking to earn their TEFL/TESOL certificate in a modern, vibrant, global city needs to look no further than our training center in New York City. Located in Midtown Manhattan, our TEFL/TESOL school is in the ideal place for access to all the city’s main attractions, with famous landmarks such as Madison Square Garden, great shopping and fantastic entertainment options all to be found in the surrounding area. Run out of a working English language school, our New York City course gives a fantastic opportunity to hone your teaching skills in an actual classroom with genuine English language students. During the course you will be guided and supported by our dedicated and professional teacher trainers and you will also have access to the center’s facilities including photocopier, resource library, wireless internet and a tea and coffee making area. Courses are offered throughout the year and usually run in the third week of the month.
Classes on the New York course are deliberately kept small so that each trainee can benefit from the individual support of our dedicated teacher trainers, and as the course is run in a working language center there is the added benefit of having teaching practice sessions with real students in real classrooms. This kind of experience is incredibly valuable to teachers starting out on their TEFL/TESOL career.
With over 50 million domestic and international visitors every year, New York City understandably has a wide choice of accommodation options for trainees coming from outside the city. Special discounted room rates are available when booked through the training center.
We can also arrange special student rates on a range of apartment-style rooms that are also just a short walk from the center. One or two bed rooms are available with private bathroom and kitchen area, plus free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, laundry facilities and access to the fitness center.
