By far my strongest learning curve has been in the area of grammar. As a native english speaker who can’t remember actually having a grammar lesson beyond what is a noun, verb and adjective I found the grammar section difficult. Focus on this area has allowed me to understand the importance of teaching how to use these terms to help support students understand why a sentence is correct or incorrect, beyond “it sounds or doesn’t sound right.” It has also been useful to think about how I can teach these skills in an interesting manner through engage and activate activities. I feel that it is particularly important that students are presented with the opportunity to activate their learning through activities that are relevant and meaningful to the student.
