I never paid much attention to the receptive skills we learned growing up because they became essential. However, reading this unit made me realize that there are many core parts of the English language that do not come naturally to those learning the language. I think teaching receptive skills is more difficult than teaching grammar or vocabulary because it is harder to gauge a student's understanding and performance.
