This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Before I began taking this course, I had no idea what to expect from it.
As a native speaker of english, I considered myself to have a good grip
on the ins and outs of the language. However, I knew that I could learn
things in this course that would make me a more effective teacher. I have
been a teacher for a few years now, and all I can say is: I wish that I had
taken this course sooner. While there were many things explained in
this course that I had come to find out from firsthand experience, there
are others that would have benefitted both my students and myself had I
known them sooner.
I have learned so much from this course, particularly when it comes to
teaching grammatical structure. In the past, I have had to do my own
research on certain aspects of the english language when students would
ask me questions that I could not satisfactorily explain to them on my
own. While the language used in this course is a bit difficult for the level
of my students, it can be adapted in order to help them understand the
grammatical aspects of english.
I plan on using many tips and ideas from this course in my english class
this year. The school year has just begun, so I am thankful that I took this
course when I did. I am interested to see how my teaching style differs
from that of previous years now that I have had formal instruction. As
long as I am a teacher, whether it be in korea, or some other country, I
know that the time I spent completing this TEFL/tesol course – despite
being very demanding – was well worth the time and effort. Thank you.
