I am pleased to have this opportunity to think about my motivation for doing this course, what I have gained from the experience and what I have learned.
Having traveled to SE Asia and china for business purposes, I discovered the hunger of the local people to communicate in english. It is often seen as a way to self improvement, to advance in their jobs and broaden their outlook and knowledge.
I often deal with “front line” staff who are the buffer between the technical and sales people. On occasions I have assisted them with writing emails for formal quotes, introduction and business proposals.
I hope to one day use this course to work in china/SE Asia with these people. I hope to improve their english and communication skills making them more efficient and increasing their value to their companies. I am also interested in teaching beginners, seeing the first sentences and recognition of basic written language coming together for a student would a wonderful experience.
I have been reminded me of many english lessons where there seemed no point in the lesson, often the teacher struggling to motivate an unruly class. This course has shown me a different perspective to teaching and opened my eyes to new methods and possibilities.
Personally completing this course has been a great achievement. I have not studied anything in many years. On occasions I felt daunted by some of the Units. Thanks to my Tutor for the encouragement and guiding me through to the completion this course.
