This unit gave more of a practical understanding of how I should use course material, how it can be superfluous and outdated sometimes but on the other hand already a tried and tested way for the students to learn. I see how conflicting views of course material from other teachers is probably a result of the experienced educator is always going to be better than a generalized course book. As a teacher it is my job to adapt to where my students are from, what in their background can I relate the subjects we are studying to. I believe, after reading this unit, that course material was never intended to substitute a teacher but rather to give the curriculum a structural backbone upon which I can rely on.
