This unit deconstructs why some of my teachers in school were seemingly excellent while others were drab and ineffective, despite having similar levels of knowledge. Though the characteristics of a good teacher and a good learner intuitively make sense and seem simplistic enough, it serves as a reminder of certain aspects of my personality that may need to be enhanced. Ultimately, teaching English is not about being able to recite Mark Anthony's speech verbatim, though that wouldn't hurt, but about connecting with the learner.
