Unit 1 contains a general overview of the teaching young learners course, including what will be covered in future units (i.e. teaching and learning, course development, materials and management, teaching themes, and professional development). The aim of this course is to study ideas and methodologies relating to teaching English to young learners (defined as ages 5-13). The course is intended to help understand the role of the teacher in the young learner setting, teach how to create a syllabus, realistic lessons for the age group, and how to create/apply assessments within the English teaching classroom. It also covers general terminology that may appear during the course.
