There are several types of conditionals in English such as zero type, type 1, 2, 3 and the mixed one. Conditional sentences contain 2 clauses: the if clause and the main clause. Either of them can stand in the firts part of a sentence. In the Unit 16 we learn about those different types of conditionals, as to how to form and use them. There are typical mistakes and errors that arise while using conditional statements, because many students find it very difficult to see the difference between the types of conditionals and use the tenses properly. There are many ideas for teaching this tricky topic in the class. The examples are provided. The transcription of direct speech into indirect speech is called reported speech. When we turn direct speech into reported speech, we apply some rules that change the sentence. Verbs take past forms, interrogative sentences become affirmative, pronouns change depending on the context and time expressions undergone backshifting. There are few exceptions to consider though. Several teaching ideas for the reported speech are mentioned in the end of the unit along with typical mistakes and errors.
