Overall, I have gained a lot of knowledge in regards to teaching grammar and speaking skills. I learned about the importance of engaging students in their learning through the use of various activate teaching strategies. In addition, I’ve learned how to plan lessons that have a clear objective and purpose. Although I was already familiar with lesson planning, the ESA structure is another important and efficient format to follow. The skills, methods, and styles that I have learned will be applied in future teaching.
I plan to apply the knowledge gained through TEFL to develop as an effective english teacher in a foreign country. I will also validate students’ culture and take the time to really get to know them as individuals and to also learn about their culture and styles of learning.
In conclusion, I feel that this course was well structured. My tutor not only evaluated my responses, but he also gave me good ideas and suggestions on how to become a better teacher. I feel that with this course, I have gained the fundamentals to establish myself as an english teacher wherever I decide to go.
