Personally I have learned a great deal about my own language from this course. The more I study teaching english as a second language the more I realize that english is a valuable tool that many people seek. I have gained a deeper appreciation of the fact that english is my first language. And on the same note I have gained a deeper respect for those who set out to learn english as a second language, it is not easy. I have also gained a better understanding of what it means to be a teacher. I knew that teaching was not an easy job but I did not realize the breadth of details that teachers take into consideration. Teachers take the smallest details into consideration like how to set up chairs and tables. This is something that I would not have thought of before, had I not taken this course. This course has helped open my eyes to the different facets of being a teacher. A teacher is part, counselor, part nurse, part psychologist, part entertainer, part jazz musician and more.
It is difficult to put into a few words how I plan to put into action what have learned through taking this course. I can say, however, that I am very excited to be an english teacher. I look forward to applying all the techniques, skills and knowledge that I have acquired while participating in this course. I am looking forward to troubleshooting, lesson planning and developing rapport with my students to be. I plan to get a job in china teaching english. I want to give non native english speakers the opportunity to practice their english skills with a native speaker. And at the same time be an ambassador of my own culture. They will teach me as I teach them.
