This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:

I have always known how to speak, read and write in both french and english. The big difference is that I studied the french language during my school years: its verbs, syntax and other grammar functions. I have learnt how to analyze the way sentences are structured, to recognize the tenses that should be used in certain occasions, to convey a specific meaning using particular words or expressions, etc. I lacked a similar knowledge of the english language. And the tefl course has really given me a good introduction of how the english language works. It has also given me a confidence that I lacked to share my knowledge of the english language with other people. I have often been asked to teach english. People thought that since I could speak english then I should know how to explain the way it works. Often however they knew more than me about the technical side of the english language! And this is where the TEFL has been the most useful for me. It has really given me a great introduction of how to teach. I find that the ESA style lesson plan taught in this TEFL course is really very useful. It really helps to construct every lesson and places the student at the center of the lesson. It gave me a whole new vision on how to teach and learn. So different from the way I was taught languages. And I feel that it is a methodology that can be used to teach in general, not only english. Since I started teaching english as I was doing the TEFL course, I decided to apply the ESA lesson plan to all the lessons I had to prepare. It really is a great method to structure the lesson. I share the teaching with another teacher in the school and I think it will be helpful for her to have access to my lesson plans in case she needs to replace me. She will know what the students have studied and should know. I think I will take a moment to explain the ESA style lesson plan to her because it is an interesting approach that the french schooling system is not used to. I have also been using the websites the TEFL course recommends to find material for my classes. The classes I teach do not have course books and therefore I need to find appropriate material and exercises. I also realized during this course that I need to work on my english grammar because I was starting from scratch. I will therefore use what I have learned in the TEFL course as a base and keep on studying to improve myself.
