While many languages have only a few tenses, English can be a very intimidating language with twelve different tenses to learn. In this unit I learned about the differences between all four present tense verb forms, present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. To practice them, my students will create surveys with questions like "Have you ever travelled to Canada?" For present perfect and "what is your job?" For present simple. They can watch each other miming activities and discuss what the mime is doing for present continuous. For present perfect continuous a student can display a present continuous verb like crying while the others guess what has happened to make them cry, such as "have you fallen?" My students can get confused very easliy with all these verb tenses and we will need to practice with a lot of drills as well as the games.
