As a fan of all things grammar, I enjoyed the review of conditionals in Unit #16. Although, its clear to me after reviewing the material that I may not be as good at explaining conditionals as I am at using them. It's easy to take everyday language for granted because it comes so naturally. The basic review of first, second, third, and mixed conditionals was clear, but it wasn't anything new to me as I had worked on it in depth when I learned Spanish (oddly enough). However, I found the direct speech to reported speech conversion especially difficult. Not because I didn't understand, but, again, because it's easier to use the language as a native speaker than it is to explain it. I suppose that means I should study a tad more for the sake of my future students. Considering that there are many places for errors and mistakes, I'd create any more problems then students may already have. Personally, I find the temporality of speech to be fascinating because speakers define the parameters of time with words, more than time defines the flow of itself. Time is a topic I look forward to exploring with students in the future, particularly, advanced level students.
