Personally, I think that the past tense is a little more easier to understand than the present tense. The present tense may be more confusing to learn and also to teach because the differences are less clear. However, with the past tense, the sequence of events, and the meaning of each sentence is more obvious. While teaching the past tense, this can serve as an opportunity to learn about students more, as they can share their daily lives, and more about themselves with one another and also the teacher. Although I feel like I understand all of these tenses, and can explain it, my confusion lies in identifying the differences and associating them with the name of each type of past tense. I believe that is where I will have to spend the most time on, is remember which form is which, and how the tense is formed. This same issue I see myself having in teaching the present tense as well.
