In this module I was able to watch both a good and bad demonstration of a teachers behavior in the ESL classroom. In the first lesson the teacher was late and did not greet the students or introduce himself which starts the class on a rather uncomfortable note. The teacher created a stressful environment as he did not encourage learners, shot down answers, scolded them and used sarcasm which is not conducive to learning. He also did not allow much STT so the learners did not have much time to practice and internalize what they had learnt. In the second lesson the teacher was professional. He introduced himself, was on time and prepared and fostered a relaxed environment. He encouraged participation and guided and prompted where necessary. He allowed the learners to work in groups allowing them more speaking time during the lesson and made himself available to help. He circulated and monitored the learners in an nonthreatening way. The learners relaxed and enjoyed the lesson and benefited greatly from the teachers behavior and attitude
