The tefl course has helped me to refresh and put into order the basic rules and structure of the english language. I could learn many practical ways to convey and explain english to students and be able to foresee difficulties in teaching. Very valuable has been the practice to shape the lessons through the preparation of lesson plans, even though I would like to be flexible using different ways to plan the lessons later on. Lesson planning has helped me also to better see the overall picture and objective of lessons. I believe the TEFL approach, if used appropriately, can help teachers and students alike to keep language learning a developing and creative process. Overall the course gave me a more dynamic and creative understanding of the study of the english language compared to my past experience.
Additionally, very useful and revealing have been the comprehensive and practical guidance and hints concerning various aspects of teaching: different ages, groups, classroom management, using teaching aids, etc.
I would like to use best way the TEFL methodology but I also understand that still more study and practice is necessary for effective teaching. For this I plan to compile more material and prepare aids for teaching using resources recommended in the course as well as continue studying to build both on particular aspects of the language as well as the ways to convey them effectively to students.
My expectation is to use TEFL in the classroom as well as for tutoring, even though I do not know concrete opportunities yet.
