This course has forced me to work with multiple language learning environments, beyond the monolingual language courses I took in high school and college. This has given me a better idea of what questions I need to ask myself in terms of where I would like to teach and who I would like to teach when in searching for a job.
This course has also given me a peek into the world of english grammar from the eyes, ears, and mouth of a non-native speaker. Before ever teaching english, I am not only going to go back to my TEFL readings dealing with grammar concepts, but I am going to find other resources to solidify my knowledge of english grammar.
Above everything else, the most important thing I have gained from this course is the art of lesson planning. I have struggled immensely with lesson planning throughout this course. It has made my brain bleed! The emphasis on lesson planning in this course has forced me to think creatively as well as work within a teaching framework. Receiving feedback on my lesson plans, reading about lesson planning, and observing other language teachers in my own time has made me anxious to put my own lesson plans into action. This course has given me many teaching ideas that I will surely implement.
