The most important things I learned from this unit, in my opinion, stem from the qualities that make up a good teacher. The qualities of subject knowledge, the ability to identify students' weakness and help, being lively and entertaining, these are the qualities which help a teacher be the best at their job. Being that this is a certification to teach people of different cultures English, I feel it is important to understand a part of the culture in which a teacher wishes to teach, and therefore the qualities mentioned above would prove to be an invaluable motivator in this aspect. The example couldn't have been stated better than the one mentioned in the unit about the difference of classrooms in Asia and Latin America; in Asia it would seem that a teacher could just stand in front of the classroom all day and talk and the students would listen, in Latin America a teacher couldn't get away with such a style. In either case, it's best to know the cultures style of learning so the teacher could adjust their teaching style to best suite the learning process.
