This unit explains the three main area of teaching new language and how they are taught via the engage, study and activate method (ESA). These three main areas are vocabulary, grammatical structure and language functions. I have learnt that you need all three for your students to be able to use English efficiently for example a student may have a wide range of words to describe food by learning the vocabulary associated he or she will still need to know how to apply those words in context (grammatical structure and within a conversation (language functions).
