There are various ways to assess students. They can be assessed through tests, tutorials or evaluation by students. Tests can be used as a diagnosis to tell the teacher where the students are at the beginning of the course. The teacher can also give placement tests to determine which class to place different students. And throughout the course, the teacher gives periodic progress tests to determine how students are progressing and to see if they are grasping the content being covered.
