This unit tackled the evaluation and testing. It is helpful for the teacher to know the language level of the student he/she are dealing with. There are number of ways to assess the student's language level such as tutorials, evaluation by the student itself and through tests. It is a necessity for the teacher to gauge the knowledge of the students with regards to the lessons that has been taken. There are several types of test that the teacher or the language institution may use. These are placement test (to enable the teacher to place the student to the appropriate class; progress test (to determine the knowledge retained by the students; diagnostic test (allows the teacher to know the current strengths and weaknesses of the students; practice test (should be taken near the real exam, it can be used for internal or external exams and finally the external test such as those of Cambridge and TOEIC exams.
