This unit focused on and provided information on the best way to manage classrooms (including the students, the space and the activities). This would include deciding which student grouping and classroom organization will take place and be more effective for the particular type of lesson. It covered how verbal cues and physical gestures can vary in order to convey different intentions in the classroom ie. whether the aim of the teacher is to set a controlled versus relaxing environment. The unit highlighted the importance of using an ice breaker in the first lesson for a good start for rapport among students and teacher. It also provided insight on the advantages and disadvantages of teacher talk time and student talk time and that the latter is more important for communication purposes. However teacher talk time also has its place and importance.
