Unit 12 discusses the productive skills such as speaking and writing. Although they are different in terms of how they could be developed among learners, both of them are intended for communication. However, accuracy and fluency are equally important for these two skills. In speaking, accuracy and fluency are developed in a controlled, guided and creative communication. Likewise in this skill, students should be encouraged to participate to be more confident in speaking. There are many factors that hinder the students to speak, but also there are strategies to address them like providing more pair and group works, giving interesting topics and alot more. On the other hand, on writing skill, students should be taught on how to develop good penmanship, the correct use of punctuation and layout and accurate spelling. Creative writing is an effective way to enhance the student writing ability where they can write literary pieces of their interests. Lastly, communication games are also helpful not only as time fillers but authentic method to practice both writing and speaking skills.
