This unit is concerned with giving teachers strategies for how best to manage a classroom in order to ensure that all students receive the instruction and attention that they need. To this end, it contains a variety of practical tips on seating arrangements, how to build rapport with students, how to address conflict or problem behaviors, and how to organize activities that students will get the most benefit from. I was most intrigued by the tip to ask students' names at the end of a question, so that students have to pay attention to all questions and not just the ones they can guess they will be called on to answer. It strikes me, however, that a teacher might want to vary that technique along with other forms of questions so that students do not become too anxious, anticipating that they might get asked a question they really are not prepared to answer.
