Previously we have been introduced to receptive skills. In Unit 12 we learn about the productive skills such as speaking and writing. Speaking activities can be directed on promoting accuracy or fluency in student. There is the difference between them. Accuracy activities are concentrated on producing correct language, while fluency activities allow students to experiment and be creative. Both are very important and should be developed equally in separate phases of the ESA lesson. Speaking activities according to the phase they pertain are controlled, guided and creative. There are several reasons for a student not to speak during the class that the teacher should consider. So knowing your class is crucial here, the teacher always should think how to encourage his students. There are a number of techniques for that. Then the typical speaking activity lesson and guidelines are provided. After the speaking part follows the part of the Unit dedicated to writing. There are different writing activities such as handwriting, spelling, creative writing, writing drafts and penmanship, punctuation and planning text layout. Here we are provided with the typical writing lesson. The end of the Unit 12 tells us about the games adapted for teaching that could be played in the class.
