Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!
This unit reviewed coursebooks and lesson materials, providing examples and going over the benefits and drawbacks of each. Lesson materials can either be authentic or created. Authentic materials are drawn from the real world and involve anything a native speaker would hear or read (for example, radio broadcast, newspaper article, brochure, etc.). These materials are good for eliciting interests in students and fostering confidence in their ability to use their newly learned language in real world situations. It can be difficult, however, to calibrate these materials to the skill level of a class and may be inappropriate for beginner language learners. Created materials are designed or created by the teacher (examples include word searches, flash cards, etc.). These are helpful in that they are more easily tailored to the student skill level and lesson plan but can be perceived as boring or out of date. These materials are good to use in combination often with a coursebook. Coursebooks are often used as the backbone of a curriculum but should be approached by an instructor with a critical eye. Teachers should review coursebooks and look for opportunities to supplement or replace material when necessary. The goal should always be to design the most engaging and effective lesson for a student's particular skill level and interests.
