This focus on this unit on pronunciation and phonology was both difficult and helpful. As the unit points it, it is often difficult for native English speakers to recognize the intonation, stress, and pronunciation variations within their own speech. Therefore, it is even more critical to learn techniques to teach this to students since it is so difficult to figure out yourself. However, I found the emphasis on the international phonetic alphabet difficult, as I struggled to grasp the alphabet system. However, the ideas on ways to incorporate these techniques into lessons were particularly helpful.
