In this unit I was able to gain knowledge on the basics of being a good teacher, and also clearly see which roles a teacher can play in class. It made me reflect on myself as a person and to orient my thoughts towards being a person who will try her best to inspire her students and give them what they need. The section on learners also allowed me to see through the eyes of a teacher, and prepared me for the different kinds of students I will be meeting. I also understood the importance of lessons having a 'student-centred' component to create an engaging learning environment and to keep the students interested. Lastly, the levels of language proficiency and the short descriptions gave me a clearer view of how to assess the students' ability and the importance of teaching at the appropriate level.
