The focus of this unit is about the usage of vocabulary, grammar, and language structures and how they relate to building a lesson plan. I have learned what some appropriate factors in selecting vocabulary, such as teachability, and appropriateness in regards to the type of students and the task of the lesson. In regards to teaching grammar, I have learned some different methods in which to properly teach grammar. For example, when using ESA techniques, the patchwork structure (Engage > Study > Study > Activate > Study > Activate) is usually the best option, though it is important to note that several other methods can work depending on the the subject matter of the lesson. I also learned about the various language functions such as agreeing, suggesting, etc.
