Unit 8 Future tenses considers seven most common future tenses: 1. Future simple - for expressing future facts and certainties, promises, predictions, assumptions/speculations, spontaneous decisions and threats. 2. Future continuous we use for saying that something will be in progress at a particular moment in the future, to 'predict the present' to say what we think or guess might be happening now, for polite enquiries referring to other people's plans, but not to influence the listener's intentions and To refer to future events which are fixed or decided. 3. The future perfect tense is used to say that something will have been done, completed or achieved by a certain time in the future. 4. Future perfect continuous is to say how long something will have continued by a certain time. 5. Time, which going to future is used to express intentions, predictions based on present evidence and plans (decisions made before speaking). 6. Present simple with future meaning is to suggest a more formal situation, for timetables and schedules and to suggest a more impersonal tone (often implying an outside compulsion) 7. Present continuous with future meaning is for definite arrangements and for decisions and plans without a time frame
