Unit 3 provided information and resources on managing classes. This unit went in depth about holding attention, class arrangement, building rapport, grouping, giving instruction, talk time, and addressing/preventing problematic behaviours. The two most interesting of these sections, for me, were the sections on teacher talk time/student talk time (TTT/ STT) and addressing behaviour. Having worked in schools and community spaces for the past 9 years, I definitely agreed and understood several of the points brought up in these sections. From my experiences, and as mentioned in the section, too much TTT hinders student progress and detracts from the lesson of the day. The most valuable point, brought up in the section on problematic behaviour was: act immediately. I instantly thought back to times or moments I did not do so, and how that negatively impacted the class environment.
