This unit was a lot to take in. Pronunciation is considered a neglected part of language education. For students to become confident in a second language, they need to be confident in their pronunciation. This unit lays out a basic ground work for teaching pronunciation to students. This unit covers stress, rhythm, and intonation in the spoken language. Using these principles in speech can add dimension and in some cases change the meaning of a phrase all together. The phonemic alphabet is introduced as a way to assist students in proper pronunciation. In that same vein, the unit covers the various organs of the body used to make specific sounds.
