This unit is about different materials that can be used in class, and that most of it should be based off from the course book, but other materials, authentic and created materials, should also be incorporated so that the students can practice learnt work on their own level, as well as so that course content can be related back to the students' lives and to give them contexts in which they would use the material learnt in real life. Its important to use these other materials in a balanced manner so the students maintain interest. It is also important to know when to stick with the course material and when to use other materials, and this unit elaborates on that too.
