TESOL Videos - TEFL 120-hour Course - Unit 1
Chantelle is taking a 120-hour online TEFL course with tutor support and videos with ITTT. This is the first of her video diary entries outlining her experience taking the course. Chantelle took the online course because it was better for her to study online than to commit to attending an onsite course. In this video she talks about the first unit of the course. Unit 1 deals with teachers and learners discussing what makes good teachers and learners as well as the types of roles teachers perform in class, motivation levels of different types of learners and the different language levels.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit mainly gave us the overview of the course books and lesson materials in classroom teaching. It is evident that using course book could facilitate the lesson preparation. Not only the student books but also the set of supplementary materials, such as workbook, teacher's book, video & audio references, etc. to provide a comprehensive teaching and learning. However, these prepared materials may not match with the class entirely, and the teacher may not do extra research or adjustment on these prepared materials. As a result, it is preferable to create some materials, tailor-made for the student needs.
