This unit focused on modal verbs, passive voice and phrasal verbs. The first section described and gave examples of the modal auxiliary verbs which are typical used to denote; obligation, possibility, permission, ability or advice. The modals are: can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, must, have to, have got to, need to, needn't and ought to. when used in sentences modals alter the formality or meaning of the verb. secondly the passive voice was introduced which alters the object of the active verb to the subject of the passive verb. Next the three relative clauses were introduced, independent, dependent and relative. And finally the three variety of phrasal verbs intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable.
