There are many different materials that can be used in a lesson. There are beneficial reasons to adding authentic materials into the lesson - students can see the language used in authentic situations ie. company brochures, newspaper articles etc. and may be more interested and engaged in the lesson. You should always have a lesson plan prepared before going into your lesson, however you should be flexible if the students have problems and the teacher needs to be able to make some changes to their plan if necessary. There are many resources on line to obtain materials to use during your class. Many sites provide worksheets, games and activity suggestions.
