This unit has taught me about the 4 aspects of present tenses, namely present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. As I have used English instinctively, I learnt the formal rules to present tenses: adding the auxiliary verb 'do' for sentences in the present simple negative form and present simple question form, adding the auxiliary verb 'be' before verbs in the present participle form for the present continuous, the auxiliary verb 'have' before verbs in the past participle form for the present perfect, and the auxiliary verb 'have' and 'been' before verbs in the present participle form for the present perfect continuous aspect. Non-progressive verbs, such as verbs that involve the senses, emotions, mental activity, communication and measurements usually do not use the continuous form. I have also learnt some examples of Engage activities that specifically target different aspects of the present tense to reinforce their usage.
