This unit focused on how to test or see a students progress in your class. There are many ways to see how a student is doing in your class. You can use tests frequently to see how a student is doing lesson to lesson, or by using a larger test less frequently. There are also other alternative such as individual tutorials but these may take too long in larger classes. An interesting idea from this unit is to ask for direct critique from the students themselves to see where they feel they need more instruction or less. This may not work for younger students but would be great to older, more advanced students.
This unit also warns about the difficulties of straight test taking as it may test memory rather than knowledge of the language. It is important to use more than just tests to rate a students progress and level in the class. Simple class observation is always another great tool.
