This unit focuses on modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Modals are used to express several different ideas. Sample teaching ideas for modals are the use of roleplay, rules and signs. There are two voices used in English. The ‘active’ and ‘passive’. In the passive, the object on an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb. While in active, the focus is on the agent, subject. Finally phrasal verbs or multi-word verbs, consists of a verb plus one or two particles. There are 3 basic types of phrasal verbs: a) Intransitive, b) Transitive Separable and c) Transitive Inseparable.
