Unit 14 was focused on course books and lesson materials suitable for ESA language lesson. Course books provide a balanced mix of grammar, vocabulary and all four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing. Course books also provide a syllabus which is graded for the level of the students and offers them progression. From the other side, course books are made for a general audience and might not be enough to suit the specific needs of the students. Therefore teacher needs to use supplementary materials. Created materials such as role-play card, flash cards, crosswords are a very good example of supplementary materials suitable for an ESA language lesson. Authentic texts such as restaurant menus, brochures, TV guides, songs, etc. are another example, which is more interesting and motivating for the students and also can gain students’ confidence when they understand these materials.
