This unit brings up a lot of really important and valid points about using coursebooks, especially when it comes to the drawbacks. I think its so easy to get stuck in a routine with a group of students and solely rely on a coursebook for lessons to the point that it can become way too predictable and boring. I know that when I have made the effort in the past to supplement coursebooks with material that I have created it has resulted in really fun, fast-paced lessons that I know my students appreciated. I think the use of authentic material is also something that is good to think about and a great way to give higher level students more confidence.
