This unit established the 9 most common methodologies for teaching ESL. It also established the ESA approach to planning lessons (engage, study and activate and gave modified variants on the teaching approach such as boomerang and patchwork lesson plans. The unit went into further detail about ESA and examples of games and assignments that are conducive to success using the ESA framework. Special note was made of appropriate approaches to praise and correction, and what sort of games or assignments are appropriate for particular age or proficiency levels of ESL students.
