This unit taught the five types of conditional phrases (zero, first, second, third, mixed), as well as reported and direct speech. As a native speaker, I utilize conditional phrases in my daily language; however, I was not completely aware of the different structures to each type of conditional. This unit clarified the five types of conditionals and provided the usage for each structure through example sentences. In particular, I did not know the difference between the second and third conditional. Through this unit, I learnt that the second conditional communicates a future hypothetical situation, while the third conditional communicates a hypothetical past action and consequence. Further, this unit provided examples of activities that I can utilize in the classroom while working through the conditional tense. After working through this unit, I am now able to distinguish between the structures and teach these structures in a clear manner.
