In Unit 10 we saw videos of two lessons. In the first video, the teacher started right away with the study phase, skipping the engage phase of the lesson. He spoke fast, tried to elicit information from the students but was very unclear about what he wants them to do or say. He didn’t have patience towards the students was telling them that they are wrong all the time. During the second part of the study phase, instead of monitoring the students, he was playing with his phone.
In the second video, the teacher went through all three phases of ESA lesson. He spoke slowly and made sure that the students understand. He made the language point clear and made sure that all students are participating. He demonstrated the activities and made sure that the students know what to do before he gave them the worksheets. During the second part of the study phase, he was monitoring the students without interrupting them.
