First impressions are extremely important and can set the tone for the future of the class and its direction, whether positive or negative. As I begin my teaching career, I always want to remember to take it slow and build rapport with my students before going headstrong into any grammar or language learning. It will be critical to my success to be able to have students who know me and want to learn, and who feel that they can trust me and be vulnerable in my classroom. I want all students to feel welcome and comfortable, which will come in time if I create a warm atmosphere of mutual respect and kindness for the class.
