This unit taught me that having some form of a lesson plan is key but being able to be flexible and adapt is just as important. Beginning with a goal or a list of intended achievements is always a good place to start. The unit used the term "working document," which I really liked. Adaptability is a very important quality in teachers, as lessons do not always go as planned. Timing is another aspect of lesson planning that I feel is often forgotten; however, making sure you are prepared with enough materials and activities to optimize the time and cover the needed materials essential. The sample lesson plan given was very helpful, as it gave a good idea of organization and depth--the procedure was written out clearly and simply. The self-evaluation form is something I had not thought about but also is a great idea in order to model future lessons based on previous successes and failures.
