This unit covered evaluation and testing of English language learners. Some useful tips I picked up are: using tests to gauge interest levels and motivation, to learn about student interests, and to measure student ability and progression. I especially liked the take on students evaluating a class. I would recommend doing this once or twice a semester to see how the class can be improved, what works and what doesn't, and to evaluate the work load to ensure that it is effective for students. As teachers, our goal is to become the best teachers we can become, so I feel student evaluations can be integral to that improvement process. Other than this, just learning a little more about the TOEFL, IELTS, and TOEIC was useful since I have heard of these tests but never researched them very intensely.
