This unit covered special teaching groups including: young and adult beginners, real and fake beginners, business students, young learners, teaching individual students, etc. The most helpful section was the section on business learners, especially the section on needs analysis. A needs analysis could be so useful in almost any teaching situation, even with young students, because you could do an analysis with their teachers to see what is most beneficial to cover and teach. Finding out why the students are there, what they want and need to learn, and what areas they need the most help with can be so useful. Understanding why they need the language in the future is beneficial as well. You could build your whole syllabus based off of this analysis and then take care of individual needs as they arise. This is a most useful and applicable tool to use in my future classroom.
