The topic that was discussed in unit 18 was “Modals, Phrasal Verbs, and Passive Voice”. Model verbs in the English language are may, might, shall, should, can, could, will, would, must, have to, have got to, need to, needn’t to and ought to. They are used to express obligation, possibility, permission/ prohibition, advice, necessity, and ability. Passive voice is used when we don’t know who performs the action, we don’t want to mention them or they aren’t important. In passive voice, the sentence starts with e object and the tense of the verb that follows is same as the sentence in active voice. There are three types of phrasal verbs – type 1 (intransitive), type 2 (transitive separable), type 3 (transitive inseparable).
